The Centella Street Community Garden
A GIFT TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD FROM CPC
In summer 2016 CPC opened the Centella Street Community Garden, a gift to the neighborhood from the church. A vacant lot has been transformed into a place of beauty and life as gardeners grow flowers and vegetables in raised beds or plots of ground, individually watered and faithfully tended.
A low annual fee covers water and operating expenses, while the startup costs were covered by gifts from church members, the Carlsbad Rotary, and a generous anonymous donor from the congregation. Turning clay into a garden required a great deal of labor, again provided by church members with the assistance of several of our first generation gardeners. Thanks to all who made the dream of a community garden possible!
