Sunday February 25
Second Sunday in Lent
9:00 & 10:45 a.m.
Scripture  John 1:1-5,9; John 8:12
Sermon  Finding Hope in the Light of the World
We dive into our Lenten sermon series, seeking resources for hope in the “I am…” sayings of Jesus: this Sunday, I am the Light of the World. Might this be more than a metaphor? What might the light of Christ help us see, recognize, or understand about the world, God, life, one another?

To worship online live or recorded: go to www.Christ-Pres.Church and click Watch Worship, then click the service you would like to attend.

This is the second Sunday in Lent. For forty days (excluding Sundays) we are invited to take a spiritual journey to the cross and empty tomb. During Lent, the people of God look within to the condition of our own souls, and beyond to how God calls us to live in the world.
Our 2024 Lenten devotional, A Good Enough Lent is available in the lobby.  Pick up your copy today or find it online at http://tinyurl.com/2p9bryym

Coffee service is available after Sunday services.

First Sunday in Lent
9:00 & 10:45 a.m.
Super Soul Sunday
Reception of New Members
Scripture  Exodus 3:13-17 (3:1-17)
SermonFinding Hope in the God who Was, Is, and Shall Be
This Lent we will focus on the “I am…” sayings of Jesus in the gospel of John (I am the light of the world, etc.). But the first “I am….” saying comes in the Old Testament. Every time Jesus says, “I am….” in the gospel of John, we’re meant to hear an echo of God revealing his personal name to Moses at the burning bush–a name unlike any other. What’s that all about?

Scripture  Mark 1:4-11
Sermon  A Blessing and a Calling
The story of the baptism of Jesus is in some ways surprising; John the Baptist, who did the honors that day, felt unworthy of the job. Whether we’re baptizing an infant or an eighty-year old, there’s something amazing about the blessing of it—the eternal God in effect calling the name of a single solitary soul. There’s something challenging, too, because there’s a calling involved. Both were part of Christ’s baptism—and ours.

We read once again of the visit of the wise men to worship the Christ child, celebrated on Epiphany, January 6. Famously, their gifts were gold, frankincense, and myrrh, but these travelers offer us a different kind of gift as we enter a year fraught with chaos, fear, and anxiety.
