Reception of New Member
Both services: celebration of a new milestone in our Forward in Faith campaign
A special welcome for children to our Lord’s Table will be held during worship on the first Sunday of October. A workshop for parents and children on communion will be held between services on Sunday, September 23. Parents meet with Greg in the sanctuary at 10:00 a.m. We will shortly join the children in the education building.

How can our souls deepen if we give them no solitude – no opportunity for reflecting, wondering, considering the big picture of life – much less the opportunity to receive a wisdom, a beauty, a grace from beyond ourselves? But time is so short, and not all of us are built for meditation. Can we afford to seek solitude? Can we afford not to?

This Sunday and every second Sunday bring your non-perishable food items (or donation) for children of La Mirada Academy (formerly Alvin Dunn School) in San Marcos, a school with many low-income families. CPC sends a backpack of food home every weekend with ninety children – your support matters!

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sin”[a]: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.

Sermon The Tension Between Sorrow and Celebration Jessica Reese
This Sunday we welcome Jessica Reese back home to Christ Presbyterian Church! Jessica is the daughter of Dennis and Kathy Reese, and the sister of Lauren, who (like her sister) serves CPC as youth leader. Jessica spent the last year in New Orleans as a Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) with the Presbyterian Church (USA), doing community ministry in a challenging setting. CPC supported her financially and with prayer during this last year, and today we look forward to hearing about her experience.

Youth Sunday
Today was Youth Sunday at Christ Presbyterian Church, and a wonderful day it was. Worship leaders, preachers, musicians, prayers, children’s time, it was all spectacular. You can hear the sermons on the church’s YouTube channel, and they are well worth hearing!
