Palm / Passion Sunday, April 3
The Beginning of Holy Week
9:00 & 10:45 Palm / Passion Sunday Worship
Processional with Palms into the Sanctuary. Meet on the patio before worship.
Scripture John 18:28-38
Sermon Behold the Man
On Palm / Passion Sunday, we remember the joyful arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem for the last week of his life on his journey to the cross and beyond. The message will focus on the meeting of the prisoner Jesus with the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate. Despite the obvious power imbalance, we may be surprised to discover where the real authority lies in this encounter—and where real authority can be found in our world.
Drama Worship concludes with a drama that anticipates the later events of Holy Week.
To worship online live Sundays at 9:00 and 10:45 or recorded: go to www.Christ-Pres.Church and click Watch Worship, then click the service you would like to attend.
Coffee service is available after both Sunday services.
Food for Kids: fill food packages for children in the kitchen at 10 a.m. this Sunday
EGGVENTURE this Sunday at 10 a.m. Preschoolers and toddlers gather on the lawn by the Bounce House, K-5th gather by the cross, each for their own Easter Egg Hunt, followed by lawn games, coffee & donuts and conversation.
HOLY WEEK begins with Palm Sunday worship, remembering the triumphal entry of Jesus into the holy city of Jerusalem and a glimpse of what is to come.
Holy Thursday recalls the Last Supper of Jesus and his disciples. On Good Friday we tell the story of Christ’s passion and death as the shadows (“tenebrae”) lengthen in the sanctuary. Easter Day is the celebration of resurrection and hope, the beginning of the seven Sundays of Eastertide. To truly celebrate the joy of Easter, one must first come to the foot of the cross; we are all encouraged to worship on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, or both.
