This Sunday at CPC, August 6, 2023

Sunday, August 6
  9:00 Contemporary Worship
10:45 Traditional Worship
Scripture: Genesis 22:1-3, Hebrews 11:17-19
Sermon: Journey through Genesis: The Toughest Story
Genesis 22:1-14 is one of the most challenging stories of the Bible. It’s the testing of Abraham, who is asked by God to offer his son Isaac, the long-awaited child of the promise, as a sacrifice. While God makes good on Abraham’s trust by providing a sacrificial lamb instead, it’s still a harrowing tale. We’ll listen to the story in its cultural setting, and then reflect on how we are tested in today’s world.
Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper We receive the bread of life and the cup of salvation: bread for the wilderness and wine for the journey. All the bread provided is gluten free, and both grape juice and white wine are offered.

Hands-on Mission this Sunday: Backpacks for Kids! You’ve provided 100 backpacks and the school supplies to fill them for children at La Mirada School who might otherwise not have them. Well done, good and faithful servants! This Sunday, August 6, we’ll fill the backpacks at 10:00 a.m.

To worship online live Sundays at 9:00 and 10:45 or recorded: go to www.Christ-Pres.Church
