Advent in your home: Advent, from the Latin for “coming,” is the season before Christmas in which we prepare for Christ’s coming anew into our lives and our world. We light candles each Sunday as a sign of the Light that first shone from a manger in Bethlehem and continues to shine in the dark corners of our lives. We encourage you to light candles at home during worship and each evening during Advent. You’ll need four candles plus a Christ candle; any size or color will do. You may wish to create a small worship center as a place for candles, communion, and any objects, photos, etc. that signify the presence of the Holy in your home.
