Lent 2022 Listening for the Heartbeat of God
Our Sunday sermon series for Lent is Listening for the Heartbeat of God, focusing on insights from Celtic Christianity. The image is of the apostle John, who leaned on Christ during the last supper (John 13), and thus heard the heartbeat of God. The Celtic approach to Christianity is one that learns to listen for the divine heartbeat in all things: in the soul, in community, in the earth, in compassion, in beauty… everywhere. The writings of J. Philip Newell, formerly of the Iona Community, will be a starting point. In-person and online midweek discussion groups will consider ways we have heard the heartbeat of God, perhaps without knowing it.
