Sermon Half-Truths: Things You Shouldn’t 100% Believe – Everything Happens for a Reason
Half-Truths is the topic of our new sermon series (see below) in which we’ll discuss common beliefs and catchphrases of our faith that are frequently affirmed, oft-heard, but actually half-truths: partly true, mostly true sometimes, but not true all the time. We’ll begin with words we’ve all heard, “everything happens for a reason,” words not to be found in the Bible, words most often spoken by someone shaking their head because they just can’t imagine what that reason might be. Join the online Wednesday “Half-Truths” Talk Back at 11 am or 7 pm (links below).
A worship bulletin will be emailed before the service. Patio heaters are available.
To worship online live every Sunday at 9:00 and 10:45 or recorded: go to www.Christ-Pres.Church
and click Watch Worship, then click the service you would like to attend.
Hands-on Mission: pack food for children of La Mirada this Sunday, January 16 and January 30, 10:00 a.m.
Breaking Bread: An online Hands of Peace event, Sunday, January 16, noon PST
Join Chicago site director and HOP alumna Emily Kenward for a conversation with regional managers Ayala Shalev (Jewish-Israeli delegation) and Hamze Awawde (Palestinian delegation) providing insight on the situation in Israel/Palestine, the role of youth building positive peace and how Hands of Peace alumni are moving from dialogue to action.
