The Day of Pentecost, May 19
  9:00 a.m.  Contemporary Worship
10:45 a.m.  Traditional Worship
This Sunday is Pentecost, fifty days after the resurrection of Christ on Easter, the day we remember the gift of the Holy Spirit to waiting disciples.
Scripture  Acts of the Apostles 2:1-21 (selected verses)
Sermon  When the Spirit Reverses the Curses
When Christ left the disciples for good forty days after the resurrection (“for good” has a double meaning!), he promised not to leave them alone. If the disciples, followers, and friends of Jesus didn’t know what he was talking about (how could they?), they didn’t have to wait long. We’ll read what happened, and think about what curse is reversed on Pentecost…
To worship online live or recorded: go to www.Christ-Pres.Church and click Watch Worship, then click the service you would like to attend. Coffee service is available after Sunday services.
Wear red for Pentecost on Sunday, May 19, as we celebrate the birthday of the church! We’ll remember the way the Holy Spirit empowered the disciples to tell their story and transform the world. The Spirit still empowers us to be glad and faithful people!
The Kindness Board has made its appearance in the northwest corner of the sanctuary, near the Baby Space. Kindness, our word for the year for 2024, serves as our spiritual focus as we seek to be instruments of the peace and justice of Christ in a broken world. You are invited to share a kindness done to you on a postcard pinned to the board (signed or unsigned). There will be other “prompts” as the year goes on. Thanks to Marcia Griffith & JJ Springer for the board and all our sanctuary decorations, including for Pentecost!
