Online Worship: the Renewal of Baptism and Communion
Online Worship this Sunday at 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. with recorded services available afterwards. Worship is 45 minutes long. Why not tune in at your usual time on Sunday morning for the unique experience of worshiping together while apart – or find the service online later.
 
Renewal of Baptism and the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper
It is our custom at CPC on the first communion Sunday after Easter to renew our baptism by making the sign of the cross on the forehead with water, washing away the mark of the cross made by the ashes of Ash Wednesday and signifying that our destiny as children of God is not death, but life. Then we share the Bread of Life and the Cup of Salvation in communion. Though we worship in our homes this Sunday, please prepare bread and juice/wine/water for communion, and a small bowl of water for the renewal of baptism.
 
The first Easter took place at a frightening time in a dangerous world. In this Easter season that is not all that different than the first, we will continue to listen with urgency for the message of hope.

Sermon:  Questions Jesus Asks: Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer?
On Easter night, a stranger joins two followers of Jesus on the road to Emmaus. The three of them discuss what happened in Jerusalem. We wonder, too, why the Christ had to suffer.
