Sermon   Questions People Ask: How do we follow Christ in an “instant gratification” world?
We eat fast food, drink instant coffee, and possess an astonishment of entertainment in our cell phones. Yet so many things worth having take time: acquiring a skill, nurturing a friendship, raising a child. Is there a shortcut on the walk with God? Or is faith, as Eugene Peterson observed long ago, “a long obedience in the same direction?” Last in our series on questions you have asked; listen to the others on our website.
Sunday Adult Education: 10:10-10:45 am in the adult education room. Discussions track the fall sermon series “Questions People Ask.”
Tickets for the Women’s Christmas gathering, Sunday, December 8, 4-6 p.m., are available after worship or on line:   Sign up on on-line to host a table  The Rev. Fairlight Lower, moderator of San Diego Presbytery, is our guest speaker. A CPC tradition!
Every 2nd & 4th Sunday): pack food for La Mirada School All ages take on a fun hands-on mission project: packing food for kids who don’t get much food on the weekend at 10 a.m. We still need your non-perishable food donations — see the pink list in the lobby.

Wednesday, November 27  San Dieguito Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, 7:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Encinitas. A gathering of many faiths with one message of gratitude, expressed in word, song, and fellowship. Last year CPC hosted this unique service and all who attended thought we should encourage everyone to be part of the experience. Greg and Kathy Bostrom are telling a story during the children’s time. A pie-fest follows!
