Sermon Questions People Ask: Would a loving God condemn anyone to hell?
When someone asks this question, occasionally they’re looking for interesting conversation, but more often there’s a deeper question: what about my friend or my uncle who died without any faith I could detect? We’ll find that on this issue, as with many, the Bible is multi-vocal, to use Bible scholar Walter Brueggemann’s phrase, and we may be surprised by what we find there.
Sunday Adult Education: 10:10-10:45 am in the adult education room. Discussions track the fall sermon series “Questions People Ask.”
The Peacemaking Offering will be shared between Presbyterian efforts in the US and around the world and the efforts against human trafficking of San Diego Youth Services, providing help and healing for at-risk youth and survivors up to age 24. Services include a drop-in center, mental health clinic, and the county’s only overnight emergency shelter for minors as well as transitional housing. Use the peacemaking envelope or give online (CPC website: “Give,” scroll to “Give Now”).
Care Packages for College Students are sent by our Deacons every fall so they know their church family cares for them. Send your student’s address & e-mail to mailto:amyk@cpclacosta.org by Sunday Oct 20. Stop by the lobby display to choose items for return on Oct. 20; donations needed too
This Sunday and every second and fourth Sunday: pack food for La Mirada School All ages take on a fun hands-on mission project: packing food for kids who don’t get much food on the weekend at 10 a.m. We still need your non-perishable food donations on the second Sunday—see the pink list in the lobby.
