Sermon How do I talk about faith with good, smart people who don’t believe?
We all know people – good people – who do not believe in God. Sometimes their lack of belief stems from intellectual doubt, at other times from what they perceive as the hypocrisy of believers (a hot button issue for Jesus as well). How do we converse with such folks – friends, family, acquaintances – in a way that might open a door?
October 20 is Jubilee Sunday: CPC is a Jubilee USA congregation, a gathering of 650 religious communities and 75 institutions addressing structural causes of poverty particularly in the developing world. Areas of focus include debt, financial transparency and corruption, consumer protection, and trade. Jubilee was one of two non-profits to address the United Nations on financing development in September. We will pray for the work of Jubilee during worship; Betsy Barnhart will be in the lobby after worship with details.
Sunday Adult Education: 10:10-10:45 am in the adult education room. Discussions track the fall sermon series “Questions People Ask.”
An Inquirer’s Class for those interested in becoming members or learning about what Presbyterians believe will be held Sunday, October 20, 10:15 – noon in the youth room. A light breakfast and child care provided. RSVP helpful but not required at mailto:gregb@cpclacosta.org
