Sermon Questions People Ask: If God is Good, Why is There So Much Bad?
Yes, it’s the same scripture as last Sunday – there’s a lot in there! We’ll address both the mind and the heart as consider a question that has perplexed the generations, even as we remember that the Bible seeks not so much to answer our questions as to open a conversation.

Sunday Adult Education: 10:10-10:45 am in the adult education room next to the sanctuary. Discussions track the fall sermon series “Questions People Ask.” Share your perspectives about the questions.

Homeless Veterans Initiative: Once again we will be providing “move-in packs” for homeless vets receiving housing during September. Choose items to purchase from the lobby display, or donate funds (memo: Vets or online at our website/Give/Give Now. In two years CPC and four Presbyterian Churches in North County combined with Interfaith Community Services to house 122 veterans, 7 spouses, and 17 children!  CPC alone has donated over $7000 and 60 “Make-It-A-Home” packs. Furniture in good condition is needed anytime; call Interfaith (760) 215-9637 to schedule home pickup.

This Sunday: Pack Food for La Mirada School: all ages are invited to a new, fun hands-on mission project: packing food for kids at La Mirada School who don’t get much food on the weekend. We’ll pack 120 bags on Sundays September 15 and 29 at 10 a.m. Come to the old choir room next to the kitchen; it’s easy! Time expected: 25 minutes. We still need your non-perishable food donations on the second Sunday or any Sunday!

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance will be on the ground in the Bahamas and other places devastated by Hurricane Dorian. Make your check out to CPC with the memo “Dorian,” or go online to our website, click “Give,” scroll down to “Give Now” and choose Mission: Hurricane Dorian.
