Sermon Questions People Ask: God Only Gives Us What We Can Handle – Really?
That’s something you often hear, and it leads to a question of control vs. trust. Do we rely on God’s grace or on our own ability to control our own destiny and “handle” our own lives?
Annual Meeting of the Congregation, 10:15 a.m. On the agenda: presentation of annual reports, final 2018-19 finances, and the 2019-20 budget; election of the nominating committee; changes in terms of call for the pastors. Pick up an annual report in the lobby. Verbal summary at 11:45 a.m.
Sunday Adult Education: 10:10-10:45 am in the adult education room next to the sanctuary. Discussions track the fall sermon series “Questions People Ask.” Share your perspectives about the questions.
Homeless Veterans Initiative: Once again we will be providing “move-in packs” for homeless vets receiving housing during September. Choose items to purchase from the lobby display, or donate funds (memo: Vets or online at our website/Give/Give Now. In two years CPC and four Presbyterian Churches in North County combined with Interfaith Community Services to house 122 veterans, 7 spouses, and 17 children! CPC alone has donated over $7000 and 60 “Make-It-A-Home” packs. Furniture in good condition is needed anytime; call Interfaith (760) 215-9637 to schedule home pickup.
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance will be on the ground in the Bahamas and other places devastated by Hurricane Dorian. Make your check out to CPC with the memo “Dorian,” or go online to our website, click “Give,” scroll down to “Give Now” and choose Mission: Hurricane Dorian.
