Sunday, September 4
  9:00 Contemporary Worship
10:45 a.m. Traditional Worship
Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper All are welcome!
Scripture  Luke 14:1, 7-14
Sermon   The Grace of Humility and the Dis-Grace of Humiliation
We listen with our hearts to another of those mystifying, revealing parables of Jesus, and to the genuine worth he grants to every human being. It’s a familiar theme in Christ’s teaching, so it must be important, right? Yet it’s so easy to skip right by. Which is probably why Jesus told the parable.

To worship online live every Sunday at 9:00 and 10:45 or recorded: go to www.Christ-Pres.Church
and click Watch Worship, then click the service you would like to attend.

Coffee service is available after both Sunday services, thanks to our baristas- more are needed!

Church Nursery open every Sunday, with care during worship including a special program for toddlers. We’re delighted to welcome our new Nursery Program Coordinator, CPC’s Carina Moser! Carina is a high school senior with experience in childcare and teaching young children. She’ll work with family ministry director Cathy Love to build a great program!

Hands-on Mission: Packing Food for La Mirada School, this Sunday and next, 10 a.m., we will pack food for 60 La Mirada School kids to eat on weekends. CPC is now a member of the county food bank, which means your cash donations will go a long way (peanut butter is ten cents a jar!). Your donated dollars (to CPC: “La Mirada”) will bring kids nutrition and your donated snack items (cookies, fruit bars, chips, etc.) will bring them joy! Place donations in the bins in the lobby. Thank you!

“Link Up” with Jubilee USA! CPC is one of 650 national and local faith groups that work with Jubilee USA to address the root causes of poverty and inequality, playing a pivotal role in winning debt, tax, trade and transparency policies that protect vulnerable people and economies. You can help Jubilee’s “Change Not Chains” campaign by signing a paper link with a message to world leaders to relieve the poorest countries of debt, freeing those resources to reduce poverty and provide healthcare and education instead. Our links will be sent to Washington, D.C. and joined with others to form a chain for display when the IMF and World Bank meet this October. Links will be available on the patio between the services on September 4 and 11.
