Farewell to the Ivanov Family
Scripture Hebrews 13:1-2
Sermon Entertaining Angels
While the phrase seems to reference how much fun the angels have at our expense, the actual origin is the kindness of Abraham and Sarah to three strangers who approached their desert camp (Genesis 18:1-15). The biblical command to welcome the stranger (also translated foreigner, alien, or sojourner, and the Hebrew word means any and all of them) can be found in many places; Exodus 23:9 is one that offers a rationale for doing so, should we need one. As we say goodbye to the Ivanov family this Sunday, we celebrate how quickly we have all moved from strangers to friends to family in Christ.
Celebrate with the Ivanov family as they prepare to move next week to their new home in Edina, Minnesota, where Aleksei has a full-time job waiting.
